about

Traditional American folk song about a dying man and his conversation with death. Normally sung acapella, our fantastic producers strike again with a range of unusually created effects and sounds, setting a terrifying scene that left even Papa Shandy quaking in a dark room whilst laying down the track.

lyrics

O' Death, someone would pray.
Could you call on me another day?
The children pray, the preacher preach.
Time and mercy is out of your reach.

Time and mercy is out of your reach!
I'll fix your feet till you can't walk!
I'll lock your jaw till you can't talk!
I'll close your eyes so you can't see
This very air come and go with me!
I am Death, come to take your soul,
Leave the body and leave it cold.
To draw the flesh, off of the frame,
Dirt and worm both have a claim.

O' Death! O' Death!
Won't you spare me over to another year?
My mother came up to my bed,
Placed a cold towel upon my head.
My head is warm, my feet are cold.
Death is moving upon my soul.
O' Death, how you're treating me,
You've close my eyes till I can't see.
Well you're hurting my body.
You're making me cold.
You run the life right out of my soul.
O' Death, please consider my age,
Please don't take me at this stage.
Well all of my wealth is at your command,
If you will move your icy hands.

O' the young, the rich or poor,
Hunger like me you know!
No wealth, no ruin, no silver or gold!
Nothing satisfies me but your soul!
O' Death! O' Death!
Won't you spare me over to another year!
Won't you spare me over for just one more year!
