I believe in being ready. I believe in being ready. I believe in being ready. When this world comes to an end. Woah, there'll be signs and wonders. Woah, there'll be signs and wonders. Woah, there'll be signs and wonders. When this world comes to an end. I believe in being ready. I believe in being ready. I believe in being ready. When this world comes to an end. Woah, the moon she will be bleeding. Woah, the moon she will be bleeding. Woah, the moon she will be bleeding. When this world comes to an end. Woah, the sun he will be darkened. Woah, the sun he will be darkened. Woah, the sun he will be darkened. When this world comes to an end. I believe in being ready. I believe in being ready. I believe in being ready. When this world comes to an end. Brothers, sisters, please get ready. Brothers, sisters, please get ready. Brothers, sisters, please get ready. For the time is drawing near. Woah, the starts they will be falling. Woah, the starts they will be falling. Woah, the starts they will be falling. When this world comes to an end. I believe in being ready. I believe in being ready. I believe in being ready. When this world comes to an end. I believe in being ready. I believe in being ready. I believe in being ready. When this world comes to an end.

Hit That 03:09
The winds of fortune, don't blow the same. She had to get out, and make a change. She had a kid now, but much too young. Her baby daddy, well he's out there having fun. Singin I'm on a roll, with all the girls I know. His baby mama, don't need to know. Singin I'm on a roll, with all the girls I know. I know you wanna hit that. I know you wanna hit that, hit that. All the world is gettin' with, I say. Consequences are a lot, but hey. That's the way, that's the way things go. What was a family, is now a shell. We're raisin' kids now, who raise themselves. Sex is a weapon, it's like a drug. Her baby daddy, well he's out there having fun. Singin I'm on the run, I'm chasin' guys for fun. Her baby daddy, well it ain't his only one. Singin I'm on the run, I'm chasin' guys for fun. I know you wanna hit that. I know you wanna hit that, hit that. All the world is gettin' with, I say. Consequences are a lot, but hey. That's the way, that's the way things go. Well it winds up broken up, really such a shame. And why not take a chance, everything's a game. And it don't stop hooking up, it's really such a shame. The more he's trying', the more he's buying. He said, I'm on a roll, with all the girls I know. His baby mamma, she ain't so slow. She's singing I'm on the run, I'm chasin' guys for fun. I know you wanna hit that. I know you wanna hit that, hit that. All the world is gettin' with, I say. Consequences are a lot, but hey. That's the way, that's the way things go.

The Sanction 03:34
God bless my home, so far away. Well I've got it in my blood boy, every new years day. I've got my ma's eyes, got my da's faith. March the days and the nights, are aw drunk away. Well rise and shine, hear the drums far away. Well you've got it in your blood boy, every new years day. You've got your ma's eyes, got your da's faith. March the days and the nights, are aw drunk away.

99 Problems 03:56
If you're havin' girl problems, I feel bad for you son. I've got 99 problems and a bitch ain't one. Tip my hat to the sun in the west, feel the beat right in my chest. At the crossroads a second time, make the devil change his mind. It's a pound of flesh, but it's really a ton. 99 problems and a bitch ain't one. If you're havin' girl problems, I feel bad for you son. I've got 99 problems and a bitch ain't one. Got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one. Like broken glass under my feet, I could lose my mind in the heat. I'm looking for the prize but i don't want blood. I order one drink, then I drink the flood. You can come inside, but your friends can't come. 99 problems and a bitch ain't one. If you're havin' girl problems, I feel bad for you son. I've got 99 problems and a bitch ain't one. Got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one. Got 99. Got 99 Got 99. Oh, I've got 99. Got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one. Got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one. Got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one.

Jesus 03:31
Jesus can you help me now? Jesus can you help me now? Oh Jesus can you help me now? 'Cause I've never felt so alone. I remember when I was wild and free. (Wild and free) Oh so wild and free. (Wild and free) Oh so wild and free, but my heart was a skipping stone. But now the world has jaded me. (Jaded me) Corrupted and defeated me. (Defeated me) You know I never thought you hated me, But I've never felt so alone. Oh Jesus can you help me now? Oh Jesus can you help me now? Oh Jesus can you help me now? 'Cause I've never felt so alone. So alone. Jesus can you help me now? Jesus can you help me now? Oh Jesus can you help me now? 'Cause I've never felt so alone. Oh Jesus can you help me now? Oh Jesus can you help me now? Oh Jesus can you help me now? 'Cause I've never felt so alone. So alone. So alone. So alone. So alone.

O' Death 07:35
O' Death, someone would pray. Could you call on me another day? The children pray, the preacher preach. Time and mercy is out of your reach. Time and mercy is out of your reach! I'll fix your feet till you can't walk! I'll lock your jaw till you can't talk! I'll close your eyes so you can't see This very air come and go with me! I am Death, come to take your soul, Leave the body and leave it cold. To draw the flesh, off of the frame, Dirt and worm both have a claim. O' Death! O' Death! Won't you spare me over to another year? My mother came up to my bed, Placed a cold towel upon my head. My head is warm, my feet are cold. Death is moving upon my soul. O' Death, how you're treating me, You've close my eyes till I can't see. Well you're hurting my body. You're making me cold. You run the life right out of my soul. O' Death, please consider my age, Please don't take me at this stage. Well all of my wealth is at your command, If you will move your icy hands. O' the young, the rich or poor, Hunger like me you know! No wealth, no ruin, no silver or gold! Nothing satisfies me but your soul! O' Death! O' Death! Won't you spare me over to another year! Won't you spare me over for just one more year!

Well I am a man of leisure, lived a sheltered country life. I like a bit of trouble, but I ain't a fan of strife. I don't care if your daddy's comin' at me with a knife, I'm far too young a man to be takin' on a wife. I'm off to sea! Hoh No No, I'm off to sea! Well it's true I like a bottle, and it's true I like a glass, And the same it can be said for a bonnie young lass. But a son or a daughter I was never built to last. I ain't your baby's daddy, I'm afraid I'll have to pass. I'm off to sea! Hoh No No, I'm off to sea! Well I've travelled overseas, and I met young Maggie Burns. A coupla weeks of shore leave and my life did take a turn. She hit me with some news and that was cause for some concern. Boy you got some work to do, some coin you got to earn. I'm off to sea! Hoh No No, I'm off to sea! Well I never wanted children, it's a life I didn't chose, But a fathers son is somethin' he should never have to lose. I went back on the water and my wife was left confused. My grief had overcome me so I left and hit the booze. I'm off to sea! Hoh No No, I'm off to sea! A job that needed doin', so I climbed on up the mast. It wisnae my first drink but it damn sure was my last. I made a drunken slip and very quickly lost my grasp. I pummelled to the deck and then my life was over fast. I died at sea! Hoh No No, I died at sea! I wouldn't have been drinkin' on my final day. My wife she was expecting on the day I sailed away. And maybe if i'd heard the news, it could made me stay. I would've known my daughter and I wouldn't be dead today. But I died at sea! Hoh No No, I died at sea! I'm off to sea! Hoh No No, I'm off to sea!

When apples still grow in November, When Blossoms still bloom from each tree, When leaves are still green in December, It's then that our land will be free. I wander her hills and valleys, Yet still through my sorrow I see A land that has never known freedom And only her rivers run free. I drink to the death of her manhood, To those brave men who'd rather have died Than to live in the cold chains of bondage To bring back their rights were denied. Oh where are you now? When we need you. What burns where the flame used to be Are you gone like the snows of last winter Will only our rivers run free? How sweet is the life but we're crying. How mellow is the wine but we are dry. How fragrant the rose but it's dying. How gentle the breeze but it sighs. What good is in youth when it's ageing? What joy is in eyes that can't see? When there's sorrow in sunshine and flowers, And still only our rivers run free, And still only our rivers run free.

Moonshine whiskey, ought to be a crime. When I start drinkin', I'm bound to lose my mind. Oh brother, got to get me a few more time. Now what's that smokin', yonder 'cross the hill? Looks like our secret hideaway, we had so many years. John Law done come and run us 'way from here. He burned down the liquor store. He burned down the liquor store. John Law burned down the liquor store. John Law burned down the liquor store. For that bootleg whiskey. Where we gonna go? He turned water to whiskey, that's what preacher say. Lord I need a miracle, to get me through the day. Muddy water come and wash my blues away. He burned down the liquor store. He burned down the liquor store. John Law burned down the liquor store. John Law burned down the liquor store. For that bootleg whiskey. Where we gonna go? (Instrumental) He burned down the liquor store. He burned down the liquor store. John Law burned down the liquor store. John Law burned down the liquor store. For that bootleg whiskey. Where we gonna go? Good morning judge, what may be my fine? When the judge taste my whiskey, He didn't give me no time. He said, "Could you make me more of your Moonshine?" He burned down the liquor store. He burned down the liquor store. John Law burned down the liquor store. John Law burned down the liquor store. For that bootleg whiskey. Where we gonna go? He burned down the liquor store. He burned down the liquor store. John Law burned down the liquor store. John Law burned down the liquor store. For that bootleg whiskey. Where we gonna go?

Take a Dram 03:27
Oh this evenin's passed so quickly, and the music's almost done. Heard the piper and the fiddler, the singer and the song. The time has come for us to leave you, one last song afore we go. So button up and aye be cheery, and take a dram afore ye go. So button up and aye be cheery, and take a dram afore ye go. For this night we will remember, and the music's been just fine. But the cold grey land of Glasgow, can be cruel and unkind. We must bid farewell and leave you, travel through the ice and snow. So button up and aye be cheery, and take a dram afore ye go. So button up and aye be cheery, and take a dram afore ye go. So goodnight and god be with you, and watch over you until, We can all meet hear the gether, and our glasses we'll refill. We'll drink a health to absent friends, make the beer and whiskey flow. So button up and aye be cheery, and take a dram afore ye go. So button up and aye be cheery, and take a dram afore ye go.

about

Awrite!

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to check out One A’er the Eight! We were very fortunate to be able to make this album and are very grateful that people are able and willing to hear us the world over. We wanted to say a lot of things with this record. Although we are a relatively young band, we have in our short time together covered a variety of musical and cultural genres and wanted to include this within these tracks. Whether they have been covered or written by ourselves, we really tried to put our stamp all over them. All the best themes are included: drink, sex, women, God, drink, death, poverty, freedom, drink and the end of the world… everything that keeps our proverbial plums bobbin’!
